An intimate historic and musical knowledge will interweave within a virtuosic circuit that involves our School: the entire S.P.E.S. (Studies for Chosen Editions) catalogue has arrived at the Fiesolana library, which collects critical editions and facsimiles of Early Music materials, in an original and precious editorial project which has seen the promotion curated by Art Historian Paola Barocchi, who has involved numerous celebrated professors, including our own Bettina Hoffman.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole received the generous donation from the Fondazione Memofonte, instituted in 2000 by Paola Barocchi to integrate the S.P.E.S. editorial experience with the online publication of textual and figurative sources that are difficult to consult and find within the Art Historiography: thanks to the interest of our Professor Katja Todorow – daughter of the Art Historian Maria Fossi, close friend and collaborator with Paola Barocchi – the library of the Scuola now owns all of the S.P.E.S. publications.
E sceglievano fior da fiore is the title of the Concert-Conversation that celebrates this important acquisition, the 21st of June at H. 17:00 in the Sala Galileo of the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale of Florence, with the intervention of Federico Maria Sardelli, Stefania Gitto and Paolo Paolini, introduced by the Director of the Biblioteca Nazionale Luca Bellingeri. The concert is organized by the Early Music Department of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, whose students will present renaissance and baroque works edited by S.P.E.S.
