The European Viola da Gamba Day 2020

The European Viola da Gamba Day 2020 (2-3 May) is a truly special day: the sixth edition of the initiative – born in 2011 and awarded with the Medal of the President of the Republic – takes place during the time in which the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is tasked with the leading role of the Violanet Project, placed squarely in the middle of a fruitful network of contacts and exchanges between professors and students from the finest European institutions.

Violanet in Salzburg

The Violanet session in Salzburg was intense and efficacious, with the incrementation of scientific contributions and the involvement of a larger stage, including the vast audience of professors and students of the Mozarteum, the citizens of Salzburg and international guests, with the arrival of professors, students and Viola da gamba lovers from many parts of Europe.

Violanet Composition Workshop Koninklijk Conservatorium – The Hague

Mieneke van der Velden, one of the leading north-european performers of the Viola da gamba and enthusiastic professor of the Violanet team, has initiated a collaboration with the composition department at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of The Hague, which includes drafting of new pieces for Viola da gamba by the student composers.

From the 22nd to the 26th of June, the Violanet Festival of Vigo held a Galician session of the European Project dedicated to the Viola da Gamba. There was great excitement in the educational activities and punctual attention from the informational side, which followed the packed workshop with great interest.

Presentation Project Violanet

On the 23rd of November 2018, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole hosted the presentation of the new Violanet project, the European network for viola da gamba, whose partners, in addition to the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, include the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg,Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt di Weimar,Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag, Pražské Barokní Centrum and the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo.
