The European Viola da Gamba Day 2020 (2-3 May) is a truly special day: the sixth edition of the initiative – born in 2011 and awarded with the Medal of the President of the Republic – takes place during the time in which the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is tasked with the leading role of the Violanet Project, placed squarely in the middle of a fruitful network of contacts and exchanges between professors and students from the finest European institutions.
Promoted by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, Violanet enjoys the involvement of the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de musique et de danse of Lyon, the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt of Weimar, the Koninklijk Conservatorium of The Hague, and the Conservatorio Superior de Música of Vigo.

Everyone will have his or her own space; students involved in the conferences and within masterclasses given by the most celebrated maestros and the Micro-concerts, with ensemble music played by the participants of the Viola da Gamba day in the ‘Consort players Republic – Repubblica dei consortieri’, the ‘Sight reading rooms – Stanze della prima vista’, as well as luthiers, specialized bowmakers and string makers who can exhibit their works in the exposition spaces.
