The IMPACT Project (acronym for International Music and Performing Arts Contaminations and Trainings) aims to strengthen the internationalisation strategy of Italian AFAM and university institutions by connecting them with experiences from outside Europe. It is based on the design, testing and validation of an innovative, multidisciplinary educational programme that includes music, theatre, dance and opera. The project aims to bring together different theories and practices in higher music and theatre education, enhancing the performance skills of musicians and the musical skills of actors in order to define a new and more comprehensive profile of the artist.
Founded by Piero Farulli, violist of the legendary Quartetto Italiano, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole has been a leading institution in the musical landscape for over 40 years. The School’s excellent results have established its success and international reputation: from early childhood through amateur activities, including first- and second-level AFAM courses, the Fiesole educational approach is characterised by a special focus on ensemble music and the exceptional quality of its advanced training.
The Conservatorio di Musica di Matera, named after the composer Egidio Romualdo Duni, was established as an outpost of the Conservatorio di Musica di Bari at the end of 1965. Nino Rota, who was its director, organised the school according to high artistic and educational standards. In 1969, the Conservatory of Matera became independent under the direction of Raffaele Gervasio, whose modern and engaging teaching brought the institution to the attention of the national press.
Founded in 1967 by the printmaker Nunzio Sciavarrello, with its 2,149 students it is the fourth-largest academy of fine arts in Italy in terms of student population within the AFAM system. It offers a five-year study cycle divided into first and second levels, as well as a third level through the establishment of PhD programmes. There are twenty-five courses, delivered through three departments: Visual Arts, Design and Applied Arts, and Art Communication and Education.
Established in its present form in 1999, following thirty years of experience, it is a leading institution for higher education, specialisation and research.
It retains its role in basic music education and carries out an extensive programme of complementary educational activities including masterclasses, seminars and workshops, alongside a varied artistic programme. It thus contributes to the overall development of the local area, providing an extraordinary opportunity for interaction between the musical traditions of the Italian- and French-speaking regions.
Founded in 1972, it is a lively campus located in Rende (Cosenza). It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, with a highly qualified teaching staff and modern facilities. The university is distinguished by its focus on research and innovation, with numerous departments and research centres. University life is enriched by services, libraries, sports and recreational facilities, creating a dynamic and stimulating environment for academic and personal growth.
The Núcleos Estaduais de Orquestras Juvenis e Infantis da Bahia represent an innovative example of public policy combining the fields of culture, education and social development. Created in 2007 by pianist and conductor Ricardo Castro, the NEOJIBA project is affiliated with the Department of Justice and Human Rights of the State of Bahia and managed by the Instituto de Desenvolvimento Social pela Música (IDSM), founded in 2008 to promote social interaction through collective music-making.
