Basic Violin Course

The teaching of the violin at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole begins as early as preschool with a gradual introduction to the instrument. A range of innovative teaching methodologies is used to gradually introduce elements such as intonation, left-hand technique, bowing techniques, paying special attention to sound quality and correct posture.

The violin course for children and adolescents offers various options, also related to age and previous experiences: SuonInsieme is a a two-year, small-group course for beginners that also children with no previous musical experience can access, or they can opt for individual violin lessons.

The pre-academic violin courses are designed to guide students through three progressive modules: basic, intermediate, and advanced. Certification exams are conducted at each level, and complementary courses are included as specified in the study plan.

For students 11 and older, individual violin lessons are also available in a non-curricular course that does not require exams.

Even at the basic level, violin students participate in recitals, concerts and other public performances organized by the School. This experience is considered to be an essential part of musical development, benefiting children and adolescents beyond music alone.

For younger children up to age 9, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers preparatory paths that introduce them to the violin in a more natural way. Children ages 0 to 6 are encouraged to join Musicami, based on E. Gordon’s Music Learning Theory, while older children (ages 3-9) can participate in rhythmic-choral activities.
