Trumpet Second-Level Degree (Two-Year Course)
Two-Year Trumpet Program for the AFAM Second-Level Diploma
To obtain the AFAM Second-level Diploma, equivalent to a master’s degree, young trumpeters who have completed the First-level AFAM Diploma can enrol in the Two-year Trumpet Program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
Experienced faculty members, with diverse concert careers, guide students in building a personalized study path that highlights each young musician’s unique qualities, equipping them with theoretical knowledge and advanced technical skills. This approach helps students achieve a mature interpretation suited to different historical periods and musical styles, preparing them for professional opportunities.
The practice of ensemble music, which is central to the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole’s teaching approach, completes the training of advanced trumpet students. They have the opportunity to test their skills in various performance contexts, including chamber ensembles and orchestral groups.
Students in the Two-year Trumpet Program explore different musical languages, develop improvisational techniques, and familiarize themselves with the various instruments in the trumpet family. This comprehensive approach strengthens their specialized skills in performance practices, leading to a mature and informed interpretation of different repertoires.
As part of the Orchestra Galilei, two-year trumpet students collaborate with peers from other advanced courses in artistic projects focused on orchestral repertoire and enhance their ensemble skills. To prepare students for professional orchestral careers, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole also organizes mock auditions, which allow them to experience orchestral entrance exams firsthand.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers masterclasses led by renowned musicians, covering instrumental techniques and various aspects of musical performance. Trumpet students can enrich their studies by attending these masterclasses, gaining valuable insights to refine their artistic journey.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole participates in international exchange programs such as Erasmus+ (for Europe) and SEMP (for Switzerland). These programs offer two-year trumpet students the opportunity to study abroad and to benefit from lessons taught by foreign professors who visit the school as part of these exchanges.
Concerts featuring the most outstanding trumpet students (selected at the discretion of faculty and the Artistic Director) are regularly held at Villa La Torraccia and in prestigious music institutions in Florence and other Italian cities. The school collaborates with important musical associations and institutions throughout Italy, including the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, the William Walton Foundation in Ischia, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Società Umanitaria in Milan, and the International Music Campus of Latina.
