Three-Year Academic Program in Jazz Saxophone
The Three-Year Academic Jazz Saxophone Program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole leads to the First-level Academic Diploma in Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a bachelorโs degree.
Through this program, students progressively acquire advanced skills, allowing them to approach the most representative jazz repertoire both as soloists and ensemble musicians.
Under the guidance of highly experienced teachers, students refine their jazz saxophone technique, focusing on breath control, sound quality, various emission techniques, and the emotional aspects of musical performance.
Additional skills developed in the jazz saxophone program include music informatics and proficiency in a second European language.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole organizes concerts and open rehearsals, offering jazz saxophone students valuable opportunities to consolidate their skills through public performances.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers jazz saxophone students numerous enrichment opportunities, including meetings with internationally renowned musicians, advanced seminars on interpretation and performance and discussions with authors of musicological publications.
Through the Erasmus+ program, students in the jazz saxophone program can study or intern abroad at prestigious institutions across Europe.
Additionally, the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP) provides students with the chance to study at leading music institutions in Switzerland.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers students of the three-year jazz saxophone programme numerous opportunities to gain highly formative ensemble music experience in groups of various sizes, ranging from duos to large ensembles, through the dedicated courses included in the curriculum.
Performing is a key educational experience for students, both from a musical and human perspective, in the three-year jazz saxophone program. The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole organizes concerts, recitals, and open rehearsals, allowing students to showcase their progress and gain valuable stage experience.
