Three-year Academic Jazz Trumpet Program
The Three-Year Academic Jazz Trumpet Program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole leads to the First-level Academic Diploma in Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
Under the guidance of highly experienced faculty, students in the program refine their instrumental jazz trumpet technique and perceptual skills by working on breathing, sound quality, and various types of sound emission.
The course delves into different jazz languages and improvisation, both as soloists and in ensemble practice, helping students develop the ability to interact within diverse musical groups.
Among the many subjects included in the jazz trumpet curriculum are music informatics and a second community language.
By the end of their studies, students pursuing the First-level Academic Diploma in Jazz Trumpet must have acquired the technical knowledge and specific skills necessary to realize their artistic vision in an original way.
The training program of the Three-Year Academic Jazz Trumpet Program is enriched by the many learning opportunities offered by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole’s schedule of events, which hosts internationally renowned musicians and organizes seminars on interpretation and meetings with the authors of musicological publications.
Through the Erasmus+ program, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole has established partnerships with prestigious European music institutions, offering jazz trumpet students a wide range of choices if they wish to study or intern abroad for a period of time.
The SEMP (Swiss-European Mobility Programme) also enables jazz trumpet students to plan their mobility at major music institutions in Switzerland.
Ensemble music is a key focus at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. In the ensembles dedicated to academic courses, jazz trumpet students experiment with improvisational interaction and refine peer learning techniques during rehearsals with their fellow musicians.
Young jazz trumpet students in advanced courses take part in concerts, recitals, and open rehearsals, which are integral to the training program. These experiences foster both musical and interpersonal growth.
