Two-Year Trombone Program for the AFAM Second-Level Diploma

The Two-year Academic Trombone Program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is designed for young trombonists who have obtained the First-level AFAM Diploma and wish to achieve the Second-level AFAM Diploma, equivalent to a masterโ€™s degree.
To enhance each studentโ€™s talents, the program offers a personalized study path under the guidance of a faculty with great experience botth in teaching and performance. Students refine their theoretical knowledge and advanced technical skills to reach artistic maturity and expressive awareness, preparing them for the Second-level Diploma and future professional opportunities.
In line with the Scuola di Musica di Fiesoleโ€™s educational approach, ensemble music โ€“ whether in chamber groups or orchestras โ€“ is an integral part of the training for two-year trombone students.

Students in the Two-year Academic Trombone Program develop specialized skills in various performance practices, exploring different musical languages and instruments within the trombone family, as well as improvisation techniques. With a deep understanding of the unique characteristics of each repertoire, they achieve a coherent and mature interpretation.

Ensemble music plays a central role in the educational paths offered by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. Students in advanced courses participate in the artistic projects of the Orchestra Galilei, organized annually by the school, which allows them to deepen their understanding of orchestral scores. Additionally, ensemble activity allows them to explore the chamber repertoire.
To prepare trombone students for professional orchestral careers, the school also organizes mock auditions, giving them the opportunity to experience orchestra entrance exams firsthand.

At the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, renowned teachers/concert performers offer masterclasses focused on various instruments and aspects of musical performance. These advanced courses provide trombone students with valuable opportunities to enhance their training with in-depth studies.

The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole participates in international exchange programs such as Erasmus+ (for Europe) and SEMP (for Switzerland), which involve numerous music institutions. These programs allow two-year trombone students to study abroad while also welcoming foreign professors from participating institutions to teach at the school.

The most outstanding trombone students, selected at the sole discretion of faculty and the Artistic Director, are invited to perform in concerts organized by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole at Villa La Torraccia and other prestigious music institutions across Italy (Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, the William Walton Foundation in Ischia, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Societร  Umanitaria in Milan, and the International Music Campus of Latina).
