Chamber Music Second-Level Degree (Two-Year Course)

Two-Year Chamber Music Program for the AFAM Second-Level Diploma
The chamber music course at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole enables young musicians to obtain the Second-level Academic Diploma in Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a masterโs degree.
Upon completion of the Second-level Academic Diploma in chamber music, students will have acquired specialist knowledge and skills essential for developing original artistic projects and collaborating in the planning of musical events and performances.
The program also includes improvisation techniques, theoretical studies in music history, analysis of compositional forms and repertoires, musical notation, and a second community language, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience.
A key component of the course is the numerous performance opportunities offered by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, allowing students to test their progress in public concerts.
The chamber music curriculum provides a high-level educational path, equipping students with ensemble performance skills to span from early music to contemporary works.
Students also refine their instrumental technique through individual lessons, while gaining specialized knowledge in performance practices โ including those related to historical instruments โ and interpretation history.
The Two-year Academic Chamber Music Program equips students with the necessary tools to develop a personal yet collaborative interpretation within an ensemble.
Through in-depth preparation of key repertoire works, students enhance their ability to interact effectively within a musical ensemble, also deepening their understanding of group dynamics psychologyโan essential skill for professional musicians.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole organizes masterclasses led by renowned international faculty and concert artists, open to students of all advanced courses. These sessions offer insightful perspectives and additional knowledge that complement the chamber music curriculum.
Students in the chamber music program can spend study periods abroad through the Erasmus+ and SEMP (for Switzerland) programs.
Additionally, they have the opportunity to attend lessons by prestigious foreign professors at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, benefiting from the same exchange opportunities offered to international faculty.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole organizes concerts at Villa La Torraccia and other prestigious venues in Florence and across Italy, in collaboration with leading musical institutions, such as Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, Fondazione William Walton di Ischia, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Societร Umanitaria di Milano, Campus Internazionale di Musica di Latina.
