Three-year Academic Bassoon Program

Students wishing to obtain the First Level Academic Diploma in High Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a bachelorโ€™s university degree, can enroll in the Three-year academic bassoon program.
At the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, highly experienced teachers guide the students of the Three-year academic bassoon program through refining their instrumental technique, focusing on sound quality, various emission types, breathing, posture, and emotional controlโ€”key elements needed to approach the most representative bassoon repertoire.
During the three year program, bassoon students learn to express their musical thoughts with coherence and develop a deeper historical-musical awareness, essential for understanding and applying stylistic differentiation in various compositional contexts.
The program also includes studies in improvisation, music informatics, and the knowledge of a second community language.

The vibrant activities at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offer bassoon students numerous growth opportunities: seminars on interpretation, meetings with authors of musicological publications, and experiences in musical theater allow advanced bassoon students to engage with various aspects of musical life.
The school also offers a broad range of courses for children, providing the students of the Three-year academic bassoon program with the chance to gain teaching experience through internships and collaborations, integrating the skills acquired in their pedagogical training.
The schoolโ€™s rich and varied concert activity further helps bassoon students consolidate their acquired skills.

Bassoon students at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole have the opportunity to study abroad in many European Union countries through the Erasmus+ program or in Switzerland via the SEMP (Swiss Exchange Mobility Programme).

The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers advanced bassoon students highly formative experiences in orchestral ensembles dedicated to academic courses (Galilei Orchestra) and in chamber music groups of winds and various combinations, under the guidance of highly experienced instructors.
Rehearsals with peers sharpen collaborative learning techniques, while orchestra participation allows bassoon students to explore different repertoires, including symphonic and operatic works, and solo concertos.

Bassoon students in the advanced courses actively participate in concerts, recitals, and open rehearsals, which are an integral part of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesoleโ€™s performance program. These performances represent key milestones in the studentsโ€™ musical and personal growth.

Graduates of the Three-year academic bassoon program find employment opportunities primarily in roles such as:

  • Soloist
  • Chamber musician
  • Musician in chamber orchestras
  • Musician in symphonic orchestras
  • Musician in orchestras for musical theater
  • Musician in wind orchestras
