The Two-year Academic Percussion Program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers a high-level educational path that allows young percussionists holding a First-level Academic Diploma to obtain the AFAM Second-level Diploma, equivalent to a masterโs degree.
The curriculum for the Two-year Academic Percussion Program follows a personalized approach, designed to enhance each studentโs individual artistic characteristics under the guidance of highly skilled professors with extensive concert experience.
This high-quality program enables young percussionists to explore different musical languages, developing advanced performance skills on a variety of percussion instruments while cultivating an artistic maturity that allows for coherent and expressive interpretations in diverse performance contexts, including chamber ensembles and orchestras.
The technical and cultural foundation acquired through the Two-year Academic Percussion Program provides students with professional training aligned with European standards, preparing them for a career in the music industry.
The Two-year Academic Percussion Program includes in-depth study of performance practices and the specific characteristics of each repertoire, including improvisation techniques.
This approach equips students with the necessary skills to achieve a mature and stylistically consistent interpretation.
At the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, ensemble performance is considered an essential part of musical training.
Students in the Two-year Academic Percussion Program participate in chamber music groups and take part in artistic projects with the Orchestra Galilei, the ensemble dedicated to advanced students.
To prepare for professional orchestral careers, students also engage in specialized training on orchestral excerpts and take part in mock auditions, simulating real audition scenarios.
At the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, internationally renowned concert artists hold masterclasses designed to enhance and complement the training of two-year percussion students.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole participates in international mobility programs, including Erasmus+ (for Europe) and SEMP (for Switzerland), allowing two-year percussion students to study abroad at partner institutions.
This experience provides an opportunity to broaden their education by attending courses at other prestigious universities that are part of these exchange programs.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole organizes a dynamic concert schedule, both at Villa La Torraccia and in the Florence area, as well as in collaboration with musical associations and major institutions across Italy, including Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, Fondazione William Walton di Ischia, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Societร Umanitaria di Milano, Campus Internazionale di Musica di Latina.
The most outstanding students of the two-year percussion programโselected at the sole discretion of faculty and the Artistic Directorโwill have the opportunity to participate in these prestigious concerts.

Young percussionists who hold a First-Level AFAM Diploma or the pre-reform Diploma (V.O.), along with a High School Diploma.
