Three-year Academic Violin Program

The Three-year academic violin program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is an advanced course of study. At the end of the program, students earn the First-level Academic Diploma in Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a bachelorโ€™s degree.

Under the guidance of expert and passionate teachers, students deepen their mastery of the violin repertoire with an advanced artistic understanding, including insights into historical development and compositional styles. The rich and diverse offering of concerts organized by the school allows students to test and strengthen their skills while exploring the multifaceted aspects of musical life.

For advanced violin students interested in teaching, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers opportunities to engage in internships within the schoolโ€™s childrenโ€™s foundational courses, to integrate theoretical studies of teaching methodologies.

The rich curriculum at the Scuola di Fiesole includes numerous opportunities to engage with internationally renowned musicians. These include participation in seminars on various topics related to musical interpretation.

The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole has established partnerships with leading musical institutions in Europe and Switzerland. These partnerships enable students to study abroad and benefit from the expertise of distinguished foreign teachers through reciprocal exchange programs. The two programs allowing these opportunities are:

  • Erasmus+, which facilitates exchanges within the European Union.
  • SEMP (Swiss-European Mobility Programme) for similar opportunities in Switzerland.

During the program, violin students gain vital ensemble experience through participation in dedicated academic ensembles such as the Orchestra Galilei and the Camerata Strumentale Fiesolana. Students also engage in chamber music groups, including quartets and piano ensembles.

Orchestral activities enable students to explore diverse repertoires, including symphonic works and concertos for solo instruments, under the guidance of experienced teachers. Chamber music ensembles provide opportunities to practice peer-learning techniques during regular rehearsals for classes and concerts.

Concerts, workshops, and open rehearsals are integral to the academic violin program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. These experiences not only serve as checkpoints for studentsโ€™ progress but also foster artistic and personal growth.

Graduates of the AFAM violin program can pursue careers in the following areas:

  • Solo instrumentalist
  • Chamber group musician
  • Chamber orchestra musician
  • Symphony orchestra musician
  • Theater orchestra musician
