Three-Year Academic Program in Jazz Drums
The Three-year Academic Jazz Drums Program at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole leads young musicians to obtain the First-Level Academic Diploma in Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
The study plan of the jazz drums program is structured to help students develop a mature artistic awareness, focusing on instrumental technique and jazz music skills.
The curriculum includes the study and memorization of jazz standards, learning improvisation techniques, group interaction in various ensemble settings, and an in-depth understanding of jazz history and compositional structures. These elements provide drummers with the necessary skills to express their artistic vision in jazz music, both as soloists and in ensemble performance.
Music informatics and a second EU language are also integral parts of the jazz drums curriculum.
