Violin Second-Level Degree (Two-Year Course)

Two-Year Violin Program for the AFAM Second-Level Diploma
The Two-year Academic Violin Program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is a prestigious educational path that enables young violinists with a First-level Academic Diploma to obtain the Second-level AFAM Diploma, equivalent to a masterโs degree.
Under the guidance of highly experienced teachers, each student follows a personalized curriculum designed to highlight their artistic and technical skills, aiming for a coherent and communicative interpretation.
By exploring various musical languages and refining their instrumental technique โ focusing on agility, sound quality, and advanced bowing techniques โ students will develop original musical ideas and acquire high-level performance skills. They will also gain the ability to perform in different musical contexts, such as chamber ensembles and orchestras.
The training offered in the Two-year Academic Violin Program ensures that students attain a level of preparation aligned with European standards and applicable to professional careers.
Violin students participate in activities within the Early Music Department at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole and attend contemporary performance practice courses. Additionally, they study historical improvisation techniques, which allow them to develop specialized expertise in different performance stylesโessential for an informed interpretation of various repertoires.
In line with the schoolโs educational approach, violin students actively participate in ensemble activities, deepen their chamber music studies, and explore orchestral repertoire. They gain experience with rehearsal strategies and take part in artistic projects of the Orchestra Galilei.
Preparation for professional orchestral work is further reinforced through focused study of orchestral excerpts and participation in mock auditions.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers a wide range of masterclasses taught by internationally renowned performers and teachers. Students in the Two-year Academic Violin Program have the opportunity to attend all these advanced courses, enhancing their learning experience.
Thanks to international mobility programs, violin students can spend a study period abroad in various European countries through Erasmus+ or in Switzerland through the SEMP program. These experiences expose them to new perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches related to their field of study.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole organizes an extensive concert program, inviting the most talented violin students โ selected at the sole discretion of faculty and the Artistic Director โ to participate.
In addition to performances at Villa La Torraccia, concerts are held in collaboration with prestigious musical associations and institutions throughout Italy, including the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, the William Walton Foundation in Ischia, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Societร Umanitaria in Milan, and the International Music Campus of Latina.
