Three-year Academic Program in Lute
The Three-year academic program in lute is a comprehensive training path designed to guide young musicians toward obtaining the First-level Academic Diploma in Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
At the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, aspiring lute players follow a rich and demanding curriculum aimed at developing a deep artistic awareness. This includes an understanding of the historical evolution of the lute, its role in the performance practices of early music, and the compositional styles of musical language in different European countries during the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
The advanced lute program also includes training in basso continuo, ornamentation, improvisation, music technology, and a second European language as part of its educational objectives.
Studying the lute as part of a Three-year academic program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole provides students with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and horizons thanks to the vibrant Early Music Department.

Lute students can undertake study abroad opportunities thanks to the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole’s participation in the Erasmus+ program, which establishes partnerships with prestigious institutions across the European Union. Additionally, exchanges with leading Swiss music institutions are available through the SEMP (Swiss Exchange Mobility Programme).
