Harp Second-Level Degree (Two-Year Course)

Two-Year Academic Harp Program for the Second-Level AFAM Diploma
The Two-year Academic Harp Program at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole prepares young musicians who already hold a First-level Academic Diploma for the attainment of the Second-level AFAM Diploma, equivalent to a masterโs degree.
In addition to providing cultural and professional training aligned with European standards, the course is tailored to highlight each studentโs individual strengths, equipping them with the necessary tools to navigate different musical languages and develop original ideas.
By the end of the program, graduates of the Two-year Academic Harp Program will have acquired high-level knowledge and skills related to performance through advanced instrumental technique training. They will also have developed artistic maturity, enabling them to perform in various contexts such as chamber ensembles and orchestras, contributing to a coherent and expressive interpretation.
To achieve an in-depth understanding of the distinctive characteristics of different compositional styles, students of the Two-year Academic Harp Program will enhance their specialized skills in various performance practices. They will participate in activities included in the study program, which also covers improvisation techniques, transcription and adaptation of repertoire from other instruments, and diverse performance traditions.
Students of the Two-year Academic Harp Program take part in ensemble activities through artistic projects within chamber groups and the Orchestra Galilei, deepening their knowledge of both chamber and orchestral repertoire.
A dedicated study of orchestral excerpts and participation in simulated auditions prepare young harpists for professional orchestral careers.
Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers an extensive range of advanced masterclasses led by internationally renowned performing artists. Students of the Two-year Academic Harp Program can choose from these courses to further enrich their curriculum.
Erasmus+ for Europe and SEMP for Switzerland are exchange programs that allow students of the Two-year Academic Harp Program to study abroad, providing the opportunity to explore new topics from the perspective of different musical traditions.
Both at Villa La Torraccia and in collaboration with musical associations and institutional organizations throughout Italy (such as Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, Fondazione William Walton in Ischia, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Societร Umanitaria in Milan, and Campus Internazionale di Musica in Latina), Scuola di Musica di Fiesole organizes concerts in which the most deserving students of the two-year acadenic harp program are invited to perform, based on the decisions of faculty members and the Artistic Director.
