Preparatory Music Courses for Children and Adolescents

The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers introductory music courses for children and adolescents, starting from an early age.

Approaching music like a game that becomes progressively “serious,” while preserving its fun and igniting the desire to play an instrument: this is the essence of the preparatory music courses that the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole has designed for its younger learners.

Music Courses for Children up to 6 Years of Age

To develop the ability to “think musically” from a very young age, MusicaMi is a course for children from 0 to 6 years based on Professor E. Gordon’s Music Learning Theory, which draws on the parallel between learning one’s native language and musical language.

For children aged 3 to 6 (with an option to continue until 9), the foundational stage for music studies begins with Rhythmic-Choral Activities, focused on cultivating a sense of rhythm, pitch perception, and the ability to coordinate within a group.

Music Courses for Children Aged 5 to 12

Starting at age 5 (or later, depending on the chosen instrument), students at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole can begin learning an instrument through SuonInsieme, a two-year beginner course featuring small group lessons (up to 4 children) with peers of similar ages.

For children from 5 to 12 years, S-bandiamo is an ensemble music course designed to introduce students to music through immediate interaction with wind and percussion instruments, encouraging teamwork by forming a real musical band.

Once they complete the preparatory courses, students can continue their instrument studies in the school’s basic courses, which include individual lessons and complementary subjects.
