Trumpet First-Level Degree (Three-Year Course)

Three-year Academic Program in Trumpet
The Three-year academic trumpet program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole enables students to obtain the First-level Academic Diploma in Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a Three-year university degree.
The Three-year academic trumpet program is taught by experienced faculty who work in teams and guide students in refining their instrumental technique by focusing on breathing, sound quality and its various types of emission, posture, and emotional control. Students learn to express their musical ideas coherently and acquire the historical-musical knowledge necessary to understand and respect stylistic differences in various compositional genres.
For students of the Three-year academic trumpet program, the schoolโs courses for children provide a chance to engage in teaching practice through internships in childrenโs classes, complementing the theoretical lessons in teaching methodology. Improvisation, music technolology, and a second European language round out the curriculum for the advanced trumpet course.
Students in the trumpet program benefit from seminars on interpretation, meetings with authors of musicological publications regularly organized by the school, and opportunities to participate in opera productions, allowing them to explore various aspects of live musical performances.
Through the Erasmus+ program, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole has established partnerships with prestigious European music institutions, enabling trumpet students to undertake a study period abroad.
In addition to participating in Erasmus+, the school is part of the SEMP (Swiss Exchange Mobility Programme), which allows students to plan their mobility at major Swiss music institutions.
Trumpet students have various opportunities to practice ensemble music: chamber ensembles (wind ensembles and other combinations) help them develop peer-to-peer learning skills, while orchestral ensembles dedicated to advanced students (such as the Galilei Orchestra) allow them to explore diverse symphonic, operatic, and soloist repertoire under the guidance of experienced instructors.
The young trumpet players in the advanced courses at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole participate in concerts, recitals, and open rehearsals, gaining essential experience for their musical, personal, and interpersonal development.
Graduates of the trumpet program can pursue careers in the following areas:
- Solo instrumentalist
- Chamber music instrumentalist
- Instrumentalist in chamber orchestras
- Instrumentalist in symphony orchestras
- Instrumentalist in musical theater orchestras
- Instrumentalist in wind orchestras
