Two-Year Oboe Program for the AFAM Second-Level Diploma
The Second-level Academic Oboe Program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole provides students who already hold a First-level Academic Diploma with advanced professional skills aligned with European standards, leading to the AFAM Second-level Diploma, equivalent to a master’s degree.
The Two-year Academic Oboe Program offers a personalized study plan that enhances each student’s musical inclinations while allowing them to explore various musical styles and to develop advanced technical skills in breathing, agility, and sound quality, which are fundamental for achieving a distinctive and informed performance.
Guided by highly experienced faculty members, who are also active concert performers, students refine their individual skills and improve their ability to perform in different musical settings, including chamber ensembles and orchestras.
Additionally, the program includes mock auditions, providing valuable experience for students preparing for orchestral entrance exams.
To prepare students for a wide range of repertoires, including historically informed improvisation techniques, the Two-year Academic Oboe Program offers in-depth exploration of musical styles, from Baroque to contemporary performance practices.
By acquiring specialized knowledge in diverse performance traditions, students will develop a mature and stylistically coherent interpretation of the oboe repertoire
Chamber music and orchestral repertoire are an integral part of the Two-year Academic Oboe Program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
The Orchestra Galilei, dedicated to students of advanced courses, provides an exceptional opportunity to gain ensemble experience, a fundamental aspect of the school’s curriculum.
Additionally, mock auditions are included in the program, helping students become familiar with orchestral entrance exams.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole organizes masterclasses led by renowned international concert artists, specifically designed for students of the two-year programs.
In addition to the oboe masterclass, students can attend other specialized courses, further enhancing and enriching their musical education.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole participates in exchange programs such as Erasmus+ (for Europe) and SEMP (for Switzerland), enabling students to attend courses taught by foreign professors at the school and spend study periods abroad.
This experience allows students to explore new musical perspectives and broaden their professional horizons.
The most outstanding students of the two-year oboe program – selected at the sole discretion of faculty and the Artistic Director – are invited to perform in concerts organized by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, in collaboration with prestigious musical institutions (Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, Fondazione William Walton di Ischia, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Società Umanitaria di Milano, Campus Internazionale di Musica di Latina)
