Two-Year Tuba Program for the Second-Level AFAM Diploma

The two-year tuba program at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is designed for young tuba players who already hold a First-level AFAM Diploma and wish to obtain a Second-level AFAM Diploma, equivalent to a masterโ€™s degree.
This personalized study program focuses on developing each studentโ€™s musical skills under the guidance of highly experienced faculty members. The goal is to help students achieve advanced competencies and artistic maturity aligned with professional expectations and European standards.
In addition to refining their individual abilities, students in the Two-year Academic Tuba Program actively participate in various ensemble settings, including chamber music groups and orchestras, in keeping with the schoolโ€™s educational approach.

To acquire specialized skills in different performance practices, students in the two-year tuba program gain familiarity with the various instruments of the tuba family, explore different musical languages, and study improvisation techniques. The ultimate goal is to develop a mature and conscious interpretation of each repertoire they encounter.

As members of the Orchestra Galilei, which brings together students from the schoolโ€™s advanced programs, two-year tuba students participate in artistic projects that deepen their understanding of orchestral scores. They gain extensive ensemble experience through both orchestral and chamber music settings.
The school also organizes mock auditions to prepare tuba students for professional orchestra entrance exams.

The tuba masterclass is one of the many high-level courses taught by renowned faculty and concert artists that the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers to students in its advanced programs. These courses provide an opportunity to enhance studies with top-quality content and invaluable artistic insights.

Students in the two-year tuba program who wish to study abroad can apply for Erasmus+ (for Europe) and SEMP (for Switzerland) exchange programs. Additionally, the school hosts distinguished international faculty members from partner institutions participating in these exchange programs.

The most outstanding two-year tuba students (as determined by faculty and the Artistic Director) are invited to perform in concerts organized by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. These concerts take place at Villa La Torraccia or in prestigious venues across Italy, thanks to collaborations with leading musical associations and institutions, including the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, Fondazione William Walton in Ischia, Amici della Musica di Firenze, Societร  Umanitaria in Milan, and the International Music Campus in Latina.
