The pre-academic course in baroque cello is aimed toward those approaching the cello for the first time, aware and willing to dedicate themselves exclusively or prevalently to early music. While acquiring the basics of cello technique, the student will learn the fundamentals of stylistically informed baroque music interpretation, facing subjects like performing essential ornamentals, reading facsimiles of original prints, intonation according to the various temperaments and the theoretical approach to questions of performance practice in early music.

The educational course configures, from the very beginning, the musical experience as a group activity thanks to choral practice and the participation in chamber ensembles in the early music department.
The course of studies pursues the goal of allowing the completion of the educational modules constituted by basic, medium and advanced levels, with the successful passing of certification exams and attendance in complementary courses prescribed in the study plan.
It’s also possible to receive the instrumental lessons in an Open Course, in which there are no prescribed exams.
The School considers the students’ participation in concerts, recitals and initiatives programmed especially for them, as an integral part of the educational project.
