Postgraduate flute course
Three distinguished performers from the international concert scene take turns teaching the postgraduate flute course at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, offering young flutists the opportunity to expand their musical training and knowledge of the flute repertoire under expert and authoritative guidance.
Concerts organized by the school for the students of the postgraduate flute course are an integral part of the program and represent an important opportunity to engage with audiences and to share interpretative choices in a live setting.
An internal annual competition (March/April) offers merit-based scholarships to the most deserving students enrolled in the postgraduate courses.
From a professional perspective, the high-level training provided by the postgraduate flute course offers a solid foundation for aspiring to prestigious career opportunities in the music field.
The program includes guidance on establishing a correct and effective daily technical routine, and the study of a personalized selection of pieces from the flute repertoire, both solo and chamber works, as well as orchestral excerpts.
The course is primarily intended for musicians who hold a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma. Exceptionally talented young flutists who have not yet obtained these qualifications may also be admitted.
Auditors are accepted.
The entrance exam requires each applicant to perform the first and second movements of either Mozart’s Concerto in G major K. 313 or Concerto in C major K. 314, along with a piece of their own choice.
