Mario Barsotti – Tuba (2025–2026)

Postgraduate tuba course
Teacher: Mario Barsotti – 8 sessions
Collaborative pianist: Ludovica Vincenti
The annual postgraduate tuba course of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers young tuba graduates holding a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level academic diploma (AFAM) an outstanding opportunity to deepen their technical and musical preparation under the guidance of a teacher with extensive concert experience.
In line with the School’s educational approach, the course includes numerous public concerts throughout the academic year. These are an integral part of the training, providing students with regular performance opportunities and helping consolidate their progress.
The most deserving students may take part in the performance competition for scholarships held every year by the School (March/April).
Thanks to the course’s high educational standards, the career opportunities for talented tuba students include professional work at an advanced level in both the concert and orchestral sectors.
The postgraduate tuba course is primarily intended for musicians holding a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level academic diploma (AFAM). Exceptionally gifted students who do not yet hold one of these qualifications may also be admitted.
The course will only run if a minimum number of students is reached.
Listeners are welcome.
The program consists of 16 one-hour lessons designed to develop the technical and expressive skills of young tuba players, covering the full range of solo and orchestral repertoire.
Special attention is given to orchestral excerpts from the symphonic and operatic repertoire, which are essential for preparing auditions and competitions.
There is no entrance examination for this course.
