Harp First-Level Degree (Three-Year Course)

Three-year Academic Harp Program
The Three-year harp program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is an advanced educational program culminating in the First-Level Academic Diploma in High Artistic and Musical Training (AFAM), equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
Under the guidance of experienced teachers, students in the harp program work on agility, sound quality, posture, and emotional control during performances, refining their instrumental technique. The historical and theoretical knowledge acquired during the program provides students with a deeper interpretative awareness, enabling them to recognize and honor stylistic distinctions in different compositional contexts.
In addition to hosting advanced courses, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers programs for children, thus creating a valuable opportunity for students interested in teaching to complete their theoretical studies in music education through hands-on internships with younger learners.
The harp program also includes studies in improvisation, music informatics, and a second EU language as part of the curriculum.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers a schedule of events that provide students with opportunities to meet leading musicians, authors of musicological publications, and participate in musical theater experiences.
Through these activities, harp program students are exposed to various aspects of the musical world, and the school’s extensive concert activities allow them to further consolidate the skills acquired during their advanced harp studies.
Harp program students have the opportunity to study abroad through the exchange programs supported by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole:
- within the European Union: the Erasmus+ program enables students to study at prestigious institutions in various EU countries.
- in Switzerland, te SEMP (Swiss Exchange Mobility Programme) allows students to arrange study mobility with leading musical institutions in the country.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole features orchestral ensembles tailored to academic programs, such as the Orchestra Galilei, along with various chamber music groups, through which the harp program students have the opportunity to gain significant experience in ensemble music-making.
Orchestral activities familiarize students with the diverse languages of symphonic and operatic repertoire, as well as concertos for solo instruments, while chamber music rehearsals are essential for honing peer-to-peer learning techniques.
Concerts, recitals, and open rehearsals are critical moments of musical and personal growth for harp students. The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers numerous public performance opportunities that enrich the educational experience of the Three-year harp program.
Graduates of the Three-year Academic Harp Program can find employment in the following fields:
- Solo instrumentalist
