Conductor

Following an acclaimed first season as Music Director of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Xian Zhang – a conductor of “dynamism, agility and precision” (The Telegraph) – continues her tenure in 2017/18 with performances of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Mahler’s Symphony No.1 and Dvořák’s Symphony No.9, among others.

Born in Milan, he lives in Florence where he studied Orchestra conducting at the Music Conservatoire Luigi Cherubini,  obtaining his degree with top marks. He took part in post-graduate courses given by Ferdinand Leitner at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, by Carlo Maria Giulini at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, by Emil Tchakarov in Venice, where he was one of the winners who conducted the final concert at Teatro La Fenice.

Born of musician parents, Maxime Pascal began his studies on piano and then violin at an early age in Carcassonne. In 2005 he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris where he studied with François-Xavier Roth.

Francesco studied orchestral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music (London) with Sir Colin Davis and Colin Metters, at the Accademia Chigiana with Gianluigi Gelmetti and at the Accademia Musicale di Stresa with Gianandrea Noseda.

At the age of 32, Daniele Rustioni is one of the most exciting conductors of his generation, receiving in 2013 the INTERNATIONAL OPERA AWARD for «Best Newcomer of the Year». He is presently the Principal Conductor of the Orchestra della Toscana, one of the best-known Italian symphonic orchestras and was Music Director of the Teatro Petruzzelli, Bari, between 2012 and 2014. The critic of THE TIMES called him, «Clearly another rising talent destined for big things».

Violin

Michael Barenboim lets music, in its diverse and enduring ways, speak for itself through his violin. Born in Paris and brought up in Berlin, with studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock under Axel Wilczok and at L’Université Paris-Sorbonne in philosophy, Barenboim knows no language or artistic boundaries.

He is the Music Director of the Washington National Opera (WNO) and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
