Applied Music (Electronic Music and Composition) First-Level Degree (Three-Year Course)

Three-year Academic Program in Applied Music
The Three-year Academic Program in Applied Music is designed for those who wish to learn how to compose new music for audiovisual media and multimedia communication systems, ultimately earning the First-level Academic Diploma in Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), equivalent to a Three-year university degree.
During the Three-year program in applied music, students acquire specific technical and cultural skills that enable them to transform both their own and othersโ artistic ideas into tangible projects, using techniques and technologies related to music composition for film, animation, theater, and various multimedia communication systems. They also study arrangement in different styles and for various ensembles.
The academic program in applied music includes rigorous theoretical study and the use of primary compositional techniques and the most representative musical languages of different historical periods. A significant portion of the training is dedicated to techniques in instrumentation, orchestration, transcription, and arrangement, as well as the use of electroacoustic and computer-based instruments. Students also gain skills in designing installations that feature music.
Students in the applied music program at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole have numerous opportunities for growth outside of the regular academic lessons. These opportunities are provided by the schoolโs rich calendar of events, which includes seminars with leading musicians and meetings with authors of publications in various musical fields.
Applied music students have the chance to study abroad at one of the higher education institutions in the European Union thanks to the Scuola di Musica di Fiesoleโs participation in the Erasmus+ program.
Switzerland is also a possible destination for mobility for applied music students, through the SEMP (Swiss Exchange Mobility Programme), which facilitates exchanges between the school and key Swiss music institutions.
Graduates of the applied music program have excellent career prospects in the following fields:
- Arranger at recording studios and radio/television studios

- Composer of music for film, theater, and visual communication
