The Erasmus+ project C.O.M.M.O.N. (Creation Of a Master Musical Of Nature) focuses on the creation, development and staging of a new musical theatre production conceived by music students, with the aim of encouraging and developing their creativity. The libretto is centred on the theme of nature, a subject of particular relevance to younger generations.
Running over 27 months, C.O.M.M.O.N. aims to become an innovative model for the creation of new musical theatre productions, following the motto “Driven by kids, managed by teachers.”
The C.O.M.M.O.N. project aims to
- encourage the artistic creativity of pre-academic music students (aged 12–18) through multidisciplinary activities guided by teachers;
- conceive, develop, produce and stage a new musical theatre work that reflects the creativity and skills students acquire through their participation in the project;
- establish an innovative educational pathway that can serve as a teaching model for future projects of the same kind;
- • strengthen the international network of cooperation among the participating institutions through meaningful collaboration between music students from different European countries.

Project structure
The C.O.M.M.O.N. project is designed to produce and stage a musical about nature, conceived entirely by music students. The project covers every stage of the creative process, from developing the story and writing the libretto to composing the music, orchestrating the score, creating sets and costumes, and preparing the final stage production.
Through a carefully structured and balanced educational programme, students from the five partner institutions work together to create a completely original musical, with the involvement of students from the higher education programmes in specific areas such as score arrangement.
C.O.M.M.O.N. includes mobility activities in Finland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, and again in Spain, while much of the preparation takes place online and within the participating institutions.
The first performance of the musical takes place in Italy as a concert performance, without sets or costumes, marking the completion of the creative phase of the project. Fully staged performances, including sets and costumes, are then presented in Belgium and Spain, completing the C.O.M.M.O.N. project.
