Isolotto Big Band Orchestra Nucleus

Following its launch in collaboration with Sonoria in 2017, the Isolotto Big Band Orchestra Nucleus continues its activities at the  Istituto comprensivo Barsanti – Eduardo De Filippo Primary school, offering children a free, high-quality music programme based on ensemble playing with wind and percussion instruments typical of the band tradition.
Through collective teaching, immediate use of the instruments and group work, children learn to coordinate with one another, adopting a positive attitude and discovering their own creative potential. Involvement in teamwork is the founding principle of the activity, which aims to encourage everyone’s learning while respecting the characteristics of each participant.

Between 2020 and early 2021, Isolotto Big Band took part, together with the Sorgane Orchestra Nucleus and several very young ensembles from the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, in the performance of original music by Davide Fensi for the short film Il Paese senza errori – a tribute to Gianni Rodari on the centenary of his birth – a project that won the 2019 Partecipazione Culturale call launched by Fondazione CR Firenze.

The programme also makes use of video tutorials for assembling and disassembling instruments, exercises supporting manual skills and music writing, audio and video materials illustrating the various instrumental sections of the band, revision games covering the topics addressed, and music videos created to introduce children to the art of sound.The educational programme, coordinated by Oumoulkhairy Carroy, is taught by Giada Moretti and Filippo Daga.
