ÂME (Amateur Music Ensemble) was established at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole with the aim of bringing together people who wish to devote their free time to music: young people who combine the study of music with secondary school or university studies, as well as adults balancing work and family commitments.
Under the guidance of Stefano Zanobini, principal viola of the Orchestra della Toscana, the participating instrumentalists experience the pleasure of playing together in an orchestra, completing a musical training path that places chamber music at its core.
The ensemble’s preparation is aimed at performing demanding repertoire, always guided by the pleasure of making music together. With this objective in mind, the traditional role of the conductor has been deliberately set aside: Stefano Zanobini does not conduct from the podium but rehearses and shapes the performances while playing alongside the members of the orchestra, encouraging everyone to listen both to themselves and to one another, thereby developing each participant’s performance awareness. Over the years, ÂME has built a repertoire ranging from the early Baroque to contemporary music, including works by Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Bach, Telemann, Haydn, Mozart, Sibelius, Dvořák, Brahms, Mussorgsky, Hindemith, Bartók, and Kurtág.
