Designed primarily for young musicians aged approximately 11 to 15, the Crescendo molto ensemble is directed by Martina Chiarugi.
Students normally join the ensemble after one or two years in the Crescendo ensemble, directed by Marco Scicli. However, external students and young musicians who have only recently begun studying their instrument are also welcome to join.
Through group lessons, students have the opportunity to gain experience, develop their musical skills, and study the classical repertoire through a gradual progression of technical challenges.
During ensemble rehearsals and small-group activities, particular attention is given to phrasing, melody and accompaniment, the individual role of each instrumental section, as well as posture and the motivation underlying each musical achievement. The integrated use of body movement and voice plays a fundamental role in developing the ear and helping to prevent postural tension.
The repertoire also includes explorations of folk, rock, pop, and traditional music from around the world.
After one to three years in the Crescendo molto ensemble, students may follow one of two paths: enrol in an Open course and join the ÂME orchestra, directed by Stefano Zanobini, or continue along the pre-academic programme by becoming a member of the Orchestra dei Ragazzi, directed by Edoardo Rosadini. The ensemble gives two or three concerts each year as part of events organised by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, sometimes in collaboration with other institutions. The Crescendo molto ensemble may also take part in joint activities with other School orchestras.
