ManInCoro
An integrated and inclusive music project for choral activities involving young people with motor and intellectual disabilities
ManInCoro is an integrated and inclusive music project that encourages young people with motor and intellectual disabilities to take part in choral activities through the interaction between singing and sign language (LIS). It is also open to young people who wish to explore not only music and singing but also this essential means of communication.
The choir meets every Thursday from 5.00 to 6.00 pm in the Cure area, at the Associazione Le Curandaie.
ManInCoro is free of charge and welcomes children aged 8 and over, adolescents and young adults.
The project is coordinated by Gianna Ghiori, who teaches Choral training at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole and is artistic director of the Associazione Voceincanto in Arezzo, with the essential contribution of Elena Mori, a LIS specialist.
The choir director and the sign language interpreter work together, teaching songs and gestures simultaneously. Each choir member can express themselves using the means that comes most naturally to them, thereby developing their social skills and spirit of cooperation.
Enrolment is free and open throughout the year.
