Orchestra dei Ragazzi - Scuola di Musica di Fiesole

The Orchestra dei Ragazzi is made up of students attending the basic courses (strings, wind instruments, percussion and keyboards) at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, generally aged between 11 and 20. Participation in the course is subject to the instrumental level reached and requires compulsory attendance until the third year of the advanced level, during which students will take part in only two productions.

The aim of the Orchestra dei Ragazzi is to develop students’ ability to make music together with others, as part of a genuine orchestral ensemble.
The requirements for admission to the Orchestra dei Ragazzi are:

Wind instruments: good intonation and a sense of rhythm;

Percussion: a sense of rhythm and good knowledge of the various instruments;

Strings: good command of the first three positions, good intonation and a sense of rhythm.

The Orchestra dei Ragazzi meets for a weekly rehearsal for all members (on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning), as well as a monthly sectional rehearsal. The Orchestra dei Ragazzi is also open to external students following an entrance test. The requirements are the same as those for students already enrolled at the School. Potential soloists for the Orchestra dei Ragazzi are selected through a specific audition or appointed by the teacher-conductor.
