Postgraduate Course in timpani and orchestral percussion

For young timpanists and percussionists holding a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma, the annual postgraduate course in timpani and orchestral percussion at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is an outstanding opportunity to deepen their technical and musical skills, as well as their knowledge of the instrumental repertoire, under the guidance of an expert teacher – timpanist of the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino since 2005.
The course also includes public performances, allowing students to test and showcase their skills; these concerts are considered an integral part of the educational path.
The Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers scholarships to the most deserving students, awarded through an annual internal competition (March/April).
Thanks to the exceptional quality of the program, talented students of the timpani and orchestral percussion course are prepared for prestigious professional careers in the orchestral and concert world.
The postgraduate course in timpani and orchestral percussion is aimed at graduate musicians (pre-reform diploma or first-level AFAM diploma). Exceptionally talented applicants may be admitted even if they do not hold the required diploma.
Auditors are welcome.
The curriculum of the postgraduate course in timpani and orchestral percussion is designed to prepare the orchestral timpanists and percussionists of the future, providing students with the skills required for a successful career in the orchestral field.
In addition to studying the technical aspects of each instrument, students will explore the operatic and symphonic repertoire in depth. A particular focus is dedicated to the preparation of études and orchestral excerpts required for auditions, including mock audition sessions.
Selection for admission to the postgraduate course in timpani and orchestral percussion is based on a video audition, featuring a program to be agreed upon with the teacher.

Annual enrollment fee: €130 (non-refundable, payable at the time of application; also valid for auditors).
Annual tuition fee: €1.200, payable in a single installment within one month of the start of the course or in monthly installments via direct debit/credit card (with a 5% surcharge).
Selection by video. Program to be agreed upon with the teacher.
