Erik Battaglia – German Lied (2025–2026)

German Lied postgraduate course
Teacher: Erik Battaglia – 6 sessions
Assistant: Milena Dolcetto
The German Lied postgraduate course at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole focuses on the study and in-depth exploration of the German Lied repertoire. It is open to singers and pianists applying either as a duo or individually (in the latter case, the teacher will arrange duo work during the course), holding a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma.
The school organises public concerts considered an integral part of the educational program. These concerts allow the students of the German Lied postgraduate course to test the level of their preparation.
The most deserving students may apply for merit-based scholarships awarded through the school’s internal competition held in March/April.
Thanks to the excellent technical and musical training provided by the German Lied postgraduate course, talented young singers and pianists can pursue high-level professional opportunities in the music and concert field.
The German Lied postgraduate course is intended for musicians holding a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma. Exceptionally talented students who have not yet completed a diploma may also be admitted.
The course will only be activated if a minimum number of participants is reached.
Auditors are accepted.
The program focuses on the following repertoire:
- Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin, which will be performed in the natural setting of the Ronzone Mill in Vinci (FI)
- Schumann’s Dichterliebe and Frauenliebe und -leben
- Selected Lieder by Hugo Wolf
- Songs by Bellini and Tosti
Collaborations with chamber music, quartet and instrumental classes may also be arranged to explore transcriptions and obbligato versions of Lieder.
