The postgraduate course in violin and chamber music of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is a high-level educational program aimed at both young violin soloists and chamber music ensembles.

The goal of the postgraduate course in violin and chamber music is to enhance the preparation and knowledge of the repertoire of young musicians, in order to achieve, realise, and convey a shared reading and interpretation of the score.
The many performance opportunities involving the students of the postgraduate course in violin and chamber music are an integral part of the educational path. Throughout the year, recitals by the best students, selected at the teacher’s sole discretion, are also scheduled.
For the most deserving students, scholarships are available through an annual internal competition (March/April).
Thanks to the excellent educational quality of the postgraduate course in violin and chamber music, students acquire high-level preparation, opening the door to excellent career opportunities.

The program of the postgraduate course in violin and chamber music involves in-depth work on basic technique and on the solo, chamber, and orchestral violin repertoire, tailored to the individual needs and abilities of each student. The theoretical training fosters a historically informed approach, forming the basis for interpretative flexibility.

The postgraduate course in violin and chamber music is open to musicians holding a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma. Exceptionally talented young musicians who do not yet hold the above qualifications may also be admitted.

To be admitted to the postgraduate course in violin and chamber music, candidates must perform the following program:

  • For the violin course: the first movement with cadenza of a concerto from the classical or romantic repertoire, and two movements from a Sonata or Partita by J.S. Bach;
  • For the chamber music course: two movements chosen from two works of different styles, one of which from the classical period.

For the academic year 2025/2026, only auditor places are available.

Fees

Individual annual enrolment fee (non-refundable, to be paid upon application; also valid for auditors): €130
Individual annual attendance fee – violin course: €1,100
Individual annual attendance fee – chamber music course: €400
Individual annual attendance fee payable in a single instalment by 10 November or in monthly instalments via bank debit/credit card with a 5% surcharge.
