Bruno Canino – Chamber Music Piano Duo (2025–2026)

Postgraduate course in piano duo
Teacher: Bruno Canino
The postgraduate course in piano duo is a high-level training programme offered by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole to young pianists performing in duo.
Taught by a prominent figure of the international concert scene and a teacher of outstanding experience, the course contributes to the artistic and professional development of young pianists, significantly enhancing their instrumental and interpretative skills.
Numerous performance opportunities allow piano duos to share the results of their work in public concerts, which are considered an integral part of the training program.
An internal competition held annually (March/April) awards scholarships to the most deserving students. This high-level training programme prepares young musicians for significant career opportunities in the field of music.
The broad and significant repertoire of the piano duo – either four hands on one keyboard or with two pianos – is the focus of this advanced course, with works ranging from the 18th century to the present day.
Under the guidance of an experienced teacher with a long-standing and significant concert career, piano duos will have the opportunity to explore works by various composers, refining their listening skills and ensemble playing (a particularly challenging aspect due to the technical nature of the instrument) in order to achieve a shared interpretation of the score.
The postgraduate course in piano duo is intended for established piano duos whose members hold a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma. Exceptionally talented students who do not yet hold these qualifications may also be admitted.
The course will only be activated if the minimum number of students is reached.
Auditors are accepted.
To be admitted to the course, applicants must present a 20-minute duo programme including two pieces of different styles.
