The postgraduate violin course – preparation of the repertoire for orchestra auditions aims to offer a highly specialized program designed to prepare violinists for auditions and competitions held by professional and youth orchestras in Italy and Europe.
The training will focus on the study of orchestral and operatic excerpts, alongside the repertoire most frequently required in orchestra auditions.
- Symphonic and operatic repertoire
- study and interpretation of the main orchestral excerpts required in competitions and auditions, including solos.
- in-depth study of operatic repertoire, with particular focus on the works of Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, and Strauss.
- technique, articulation, intonation bow coordination, and style.
- Audition repertoire
In-depth study of the works commonly required in orchestra auditions:
- Classical concerto: one of W. A. Mozart’s violin concertos (either K216, K218,or K219), with cadenza.
- Romantic concerto: first movement of a concerto by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Sibelius, or Tchaikovsky.
- S. Bach: a Sonata for solo violin (Adagio and Fuga).
The lessons will include violin technique, phrasing, historical interpretation, management of intonation, and sound projection in the orchestral context.
- Audition simulations
- Simulated auditions in both blind and non-blind formats.
- Technical and expressive evaluation with written and oral feedback.
- Construction of a personal audition program, focusing on the balance between solo and orchestral repertoire.
- Final exam / public audition
- Public presentation of orchestral excerpts and one solo piece.
The course is intended for young violinists who wish to audition for high-level professional and youth orchestras and aim to refine their technical, musical, and artistic preparation.
Lessons will take place over eight weeks between October and May, with two meetings per scheduled week.
A maximum of six students will be admitted

Individual annual registration fee (non-refundable, to be paid upon submission of the application, also valid for auditors): €130.00
Individual annual attendance fee for the violin course: €1,300.00
The individual annual attendance fee must be paid either in a single instalment by November 10th or in monthly instalments by direct debit/credit card, with a 5% surcharge.
