Music course for children aged 0 to 6 years
The music course for children aged 0 to 6 at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is based on Prof. E. Gordon’s Music Learning Theory, which is founded on the principle of similarity between the acquisition of verbal and musical language and on the study of individual learning processes. Its main objective is to foster the development of an individual’s ability to “think music”.
Music Learning Theory involves a teacher-guide who, fully respecting each child’s own pace of interaction, engages with them through sound and voice, singing without words and using breathing, movement, silence, mirroring (an active listening technique that generates empathy and encourages communication), and more.
This teaching practice aims to develop listening skills, also through the enhancement of spontaneous, free and guided movement.
During the activity, children and teachers immerse themselves in the world of frequencies and non-verbal communication. In a relaxed and playful atmosphere, children experience a musical dialogue that, over time, guides them towards developing their singing voice, pitch and sense of rhythm.
Vocal-sound dialogue encourages the acquisition of a musical vocabulary made up of organised groups of sounds and gradually enables children to express themselves musically in an autonomous and creative way, using structures absorbed informally.
Although the teaching model maintains a consistent basic structure, it adapts to the different stages of the child’s cognitive development.
The musical instrument used is the voice.
During lessons for children aged 0 to 36 months, the presence of a designated adult is required.

Weekly sessions from October to May, with possible make-up lessons in June, on Saturday mornings at Swing Studio 22 ASD – Viale Volta 127A, Florence.

9.45 am – first trial lesson for new students aged 0–24 months
10.40 am – first trial lesson for new students aged 24–36 months
11.40 am – first trial lesson for new students aged 3–6 years
First lesson for RETURNING STUDENTS: Saturday 10 October 2026
9.45 am – 0–36 months group
10.30 am – 3–4 years group
11.15 am – 4–6 years group
