Cello masterclass at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole

Teacher: Miklós Perényi  – 1 session
Collaborative pianist: Aglaia Tarantino

The cello masterclass held by Miklós Perényi offers young cellists the opportunity to meet a musician with extraordinary concert and teaching experience.

Recognized as one of the greatest cellists of his generation, Perényi won the Pablo Casals International Competition in Budapest in 1963 and has been teaching at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in the Hungarian capital since 1974.

Perényi’s extensive concert activity takes place in the most important musical centers of Europe, Japan, China, and America, as well as in numerous festivals including Edinburgh, Lucerne, Prague, Salzburg, Vienna, Warsaw, Kronberg, and Berlin. His repertoire ranges from 17th-century music to contemporary works and includes collaborations with renowned colleagues such as Sir András Schiff.

Perényi’s great teaching and concert experience will be at the disposal of the young cellists attending his lessons: attention to intonation and sound production, phrasing, and expressive coherence in relation to the repertoire studied will provide valuable support for young cellists wishing to broaden their interpretative horizons

The cello masterclass with Miklós Perényi takes place at Villa Demidoff in Pratolino, an enchanting location — a Medici park listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site — situated in the hills of Florence and reachable by public transport.

Full immersion in nature and art will be offered to students who wish to stay in the Villa Demidoff guesthouse, available at a reasonable cost while places are available.

The masterclass will be activated upon reaching a minimum number of enrolled participants.

At the end of the cello masterclass, the Sala Rossa of the Paggeria of Villa Demidoff will host the concerts of Mousikè, the international festival of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, in which students may participate upon the teacher’s recommendation.
