Barnabás Kelemen – Violin Masterclass

Violin Masterclass at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole
Teacher: Barnabás Kelemen – 2 sessions
Collaborative pianist: Livia Zambrini
The two violin and chamber music masterclasses led by Barnabás Kelemen at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offer a valuable opportunity for young violinists who already hold solid technical and expressive foundations and wish to work with an artist of many facets, whose prestigious international career ranges across solo performance, quartet playing, and conducting.
Barnabás Kelemen gained international recognition with several world premieres of works by composers such as Kurtág, Ligeti, Schnittke, and Gubaidulina. He has recorded the complete violin works of Bartók. With the Kelemen Quartet, he performs in major concert halls around the world. His numerous recordings have received major awards in England, France, Belgium, Germany, and Hungary.
He teaches in Budapest at the Ferenc Liszt Academy and in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
The aim of Barnabás Kelemen’s violin lessons is to help each student find their own voice on the instrument, beginning with the development of a personal sound quality and perfect intonation, and progressing toward fulfilling the composer’s intentions while respecting the style in an informed and mature way.
The violin lessons with Barnabás Kelemen take place at Villa Demidoff in Pratolino, set within a park transformed into a magical and enchanting place by great Renaissance artists and today listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Students participating in the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole masterclass may stay at the Villa’s guesthouse — available until all places are filled and offered at an affordable rate —, thus spending several days immersed in the wonders of the park, not far from the centre of Florence, which is connected by public transport.
The masterclasses will be activated once a minimum number of students is reached.
The work carried out during Barnabás Kelemen’s violin masterclasses will culminate in public concerts held in the Sala Rossa of Villa Demidoff, within the prestigious framework of Mousikè, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole’s spring festival.
