Carolin Widmann – Violin Masterclass

Carolin Widmann is a versatile artist whose activity ranges from new commissions written specifically for her, to solo recitals, a wide variety of chamber music projects, concerts on period instruments, and performances —also as conductor— of the major violin repertoire.

Since 2006, Widmann has been a violin teacher at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in Leipzig.

Young instrumentalists participating in Carolin Widmann’s violin masterclass will have several intensive teaching days to explore issues of instrumental technique —closely connected to the search for deep harmony between the performer’s gesture and the instrument— and to refine their interpretation of the musical text, combining respect for the score with a personal and expressive rendering.

The violin masterclass takes place at the Paggeria and Scuderie of Villa Demidoff in Pratolino, just outside Florence, within a Medici hillside park renowned worldwide for its Renaissance sculptures and the charm of its landscapes.

Students may stay at the guesthouse, available until all places are filled and offered at an affordable rate.

The masterclass will be activated once a minimum number of participants is reached.

The violin masterclass taught by Carolin Widmann at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole is a comprehensive artistic experience culminating in public concerts held within Mousikè, the School’s international spring festival.
