Sarah Maria Sun – Contemporary Vocal Music Masterclass

Contemporary vocal music masterclass at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole
Teacher: Sarah Maria Sun – 1 session
Collaborative pianist: to be defined
The contemporary vocal music lessons taught by Sarah Maria Sun within the masterclass program of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole are a valuable opportunity to meet one of the most important and extraordinary performers on the international music scene.
Sarah Maria Sun is a soloist in the world’s leading concert halls (including the KKL in Lucerne, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg…) and at the most prestigious international festivals.
Active in opera houses throughout Europe, she is a versatile and striking interpreter of the complex female roles of contemporary opera. Sarah Maria Sun’s repertoire comprises approximately 2,000 compositions from the 16th to the 21st century, including around 400 world premieres performed by her.
During the days of the contemporary vocal music masterclass, young singers will have the opportunity to perform and to receive creative input from a leading artist on the international stage.
Sarah Maria Sun’s lessons will help young singers work not only on vocal production and the quality of phrasing, but also on the theatrical aspects of making music with the voice, opening up new possibilities and providing different stimuli for each participant.
The contemporary vocal music masterclass takes place at Villa Demidoff in Pratolino, on the hills north of Florence, where students may also stay at a modest cost in the guesthouse facilities available to them, subject to availability. The masterclass will thus also be a unique opportunity to spend several days in a majestic park, featuring renowned Renaissance sculptures and evocative views, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The masterclass will be activated upon reaching a minimum number of participants.
At the end of the activities, students of the contemporary vocal music masterclass may take part in the final concert, which will be held in the Red Hall of the Paggeria of the Villa as part of Mousikè, the international festival of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
