The postgraduate viola course with Patrick Jüdt at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole offers young professional musicians the opportunity to work with a highly experienced teacher who guides them in developing and specialising their professional careers.
The postegraduate chamber music course is intended both for groups wishing to acquire the foundations of a professional approach to ensemble playing and for advanced ensembles seeking to explore interpretative issues or prepare for international competitions.
The high standard of training provided by the postegraduate viola and chamber music course helps talented and passionate young musicians embark on high-level professional careers in music. During the course, violists and ensembles have the opportunity to put their preparation to the test in public concerts, which are considered an integral part of the training programme.
An annual internal competition, held in spring, offers scholarships to the most deserving students.
Preparation for auditions, the acquisition of performance techniques specifically suited to contemporary music, and the study of historically informed performance practice are all part of the course program. The course also focuses on consolidating and further developing individual and ensemble technical and musical skills and knowledge.
The postegraduate viola and chamber music course is primarily intended for violists and chamber ensembles holding a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma. Exceptionally talented young musicians or groups who do not yet hold these qualifications may also be admitted.
The course will only be activated if a minimum number of participants is reached.
Auditors are accepted.
Young violists and chamber groups applying for Patrick Jüdt’s postgraduate course must take an admission audition consisting of the performance of one classical piece and one piece of their choice.
