The annual postgraduate course in double bass offered by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole provides advanced training for young double bass players who hold a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma and who wish to deepen their knowledge of the double bass repertoire while refining their instrumental and cultural preparation.
The school organizes numerous concerts that are considered an integral part of the postgraduate course in double bass, offering students the opportunity to test their skills and gain experience performing in front of an audience.
The most deserving students may participate in an internal annual competition (March/April), which awards scholarships. Thanks to its high educational standards, the postgraduate course in double bass offers valuable professional prospectsin the world of music for passionate and talented young double bass players.
The course is intended for musicians who hold a pre-reform (Vecchio Ordinamento) diploma or a first-level AFAM diploma. Exceptionally talented young double bass players who do not yet meet these academic requirements may also be admitted.
The course will be activated only if a minimum number of students is reached.
Auditors are accepted.
The curriculum includes solo and orchestral double bass repertoire, with specific preparation for auditions.
Students will also have the opportunity to take part in chamber music projects in collaboration with participants from other postgraduate courses.
Throughout the year, at the teacher’s sole discretion, the most outstanding students will be invited to take part in public recitals.
To audition for the postgraduate course in double bass, candidates must present a free-choice program lasting approximately 20 minutes.
