Body Awareness Course

Classes for the Body Awareness and Expression Techniques course, taught by Cinzia Borsotti, begin on Wednesday, 11 November. Borsotti is an experienced dancer and singer trained in the Core Movement Integration method developed by American Josef Della Grotte and in the Hipopressive RSF method, certified by Dr Marcel Caufriez.

The course consists of 18 group sessions, each lasting 90 minutes, for a total of 27 hours. Classes take place weekly on Wednesdays, and are designed to support body awareness through progressive exercises and practices.

Sessions are held in the Le Ghiaie classroom at the Pratolino premises. Participants will need a mat; comfortable clothing and non-slip socks are recommended.The course is open to everyone and is free of charge. It is optional for students enrolled in the three-year degree programme, who will be awarded 3 CFA credits upon successful completion.

The course aims to develop an understanding of the mechanisms underlying movement through breathing and the relationship between the diaphragm and the pelvic floor, both of which play a fundamental role in posture and balance. It also seeks to improve stress management through mindfulness exercises.

Practical benefits include:
– for instrumentalists: a greater fluidity of movement, a reduced energy expenditure and a lower risk of physical blocks caused by incorrect posture while playing.
– for singers: improved sound production through greater awareness of the entire body as an instrument, as well as better control of space and movement on stage.
