Cello masterclass at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole

Teacher: Sebastian Klinger – 1 session
Collaborative pianist: Aglaia Tarantino

The cello masterclass taught by Sebastian Klinger offers young cellists the opportunity to work with a highly accomplished musician, awarded the Diapason d’Or for his recording of Bach’s Six Suites.

After rigorous studies with Heinrich Schiff and Boris Pergamenschikow, Sebastian Klinger established himself on the international scene by winning the German Music Competition in Berlin in 2001. He is currently engaged in an intense concert and recording activity as a soloist and chamber musician alongside leading artists; for twelve years he was principal cello of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, and since 2015 he has been teaching at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg.

The cello lessons taught by Sebastian Klinger and organized by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole will provide valuable support for young cellists who wish to broaden their interpretative horizons and instrumental skills with a musician and teacher of great experience.

Sebastian Klinger’s cello masterclass takes place at Villa Demidoff in Pratolino, within a historic park listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located a short distance from Florence and reachable by public transport. Students may also stay in the Villa Demidoff guesthouse at a modest cost, subject to availability, enjoying an unforgettable experience over several days.

The masterclass will be activated upon reaching a minimum number of participants.

At the end of the cello masterclass, the Red Hall of the Paggeria of Villa Demidoff will host the concerts of Mousikè, the international festival of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, in which students may take part upon indication by the teacher.
