Violin masterclass at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole

Teacher: Yair Kless – 2 sessions
Collaborative pianist: Livia Zambrini

Through the violin masterclasses taught by Yair Kless, young instrumentalists will have the opportunity to refine their instrumental technique and the expressive depth of their performance through direct interaction with a violinist of exceptionally broad experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher.

Founder and first violin of the Sol-La-Re Sting Quartet, Yair Kless has been a member of the Israeli Baroque Ensemble on major international stages, also collaborating with the Tel-Aviv Piano Quartet, the USA New Art Trio in the United States, the Modus Trio, and numerous musical projects worldwide.

Yair Kless’s repertoire ranges from Baroque to modern and contemporary music, including many world premieres.

The most important international violin competitions regularly invite him to serve on their juries.

Yair Kless’s teaching activity is extensive and deeply committed: the Israeli violinist teaches at the Buchman-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv, at the Kunstuniversität Graz, and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Yair Kless’s violin lessons place instrumental technique at the center as a necessary element for giving coherent and personal form to the musical idea, encouraging students to develop awareness of their expressive means and of the historical context in which the works studied are situated.

The violin masterclasses of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole taught by Yair Kless take place at Villa Demidoff in Pratolino, an ancient Medici residence on the hills north of Florence, of which several valuable buildings and a magnificent park remain, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013. Students may stay in the Villa’s guesthouse at a modest cost (subject to availability), fully enjoying special days immersed in music, visual art, and natural beauty.

The masterclasses will be activated once a minimum number of registrations is reached.

In spring, the Red Hall of the Paggeria at Villa Demidoff hosts the Mousikè concerts, the international festival of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, in which students of the violin masterclasses may participate upon the teacher’s recommendation.
